I currently have a 1987 Saab 9000 which has a faulty
regulator (window goes down when fuse is installed).
The door panel needs to be removed in order to test
this assembly. This appears to be simple except
for where the door handle goes through the panel.
Does anyone know how this is removed?
Thanks in advance.

Larry,
I have an 87 9000S 5 spd I bought this past December. Before removing
the door panel, pull the switch holder up and out. Clean and check the
switches. The switch for my driver’s side front window started slipping
down into the console. I pulled the whole assembly, cleaned the switches
and made sure everything was aligned properly. Mine works fine now.
Clean the switches with alcohol or electrical contact spray. Then spray
the switches with silicon spray. I also have the Haynes manual.

I doubt the problem is in the door. As Ken says its probably in the
switch. But it could be the one touch relay.
Pop out the switches in the console, Unplug the one for the drivers side
window. Then install the fuse. if the window stays put, the problem is
the switch. If not, its the relay. The relay is under the drivers seat
