900T16S Intermittant Boost Problem

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:48 pm

I have an 88 900T16 S which has developed a really annoying problem.
Sometimes it only boots to half way, or less. The next time I drive it, it
may be OK and fully boosting again. My garage has replaced the APC control
box, but this has not solved the problem. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Removing balancer shaft chain on 9000 turbo

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:47 pm

Symptom:Very loud whining whirring noises from timing
chain area of 1995 Saab 9000 turbo automatic. At
first, noise seemed to be coming from auto
box,(yeah…really),so I pulled the
transmission.Stripped,cut open convertor,no problems.Ran
engine with box out of car,and noise is still there, but
less severe. It seems with the box on,the resonances from
the flex plate are worse.Box is now back in car.

Pulled cam cover, and,as far as I can tell, timing chain
is OK.Probably it’s balance shaft chain.Car is UK 2
litre.Definitely has balance shafts..

What’s the easiest way of pulling the timing cover? I
don’t want to remove the head if possible, already spent
way too long on this job.Can I drop the sump a bit,and
wangle it out, with the head still on?

Thanks :-)

Power antenna problem

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:47 pm

Does anyone know where I might buy a piece for the power antenna on my 88
9000T . There is a small nylon gear  inside the case just under the electric
motor that drives the larger gear that extend and retract the antenna mast.
This small nylon wheel/gear is what I need. Thanks in advance.

Tires for a 96 800 SE

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:47 pm

I have a 96 900 SE Turbo. I have the low profile tires that came with the
car. I was told that they would only last 20K miles or so.

What are good replacement tires that have a better lifetime? I am used to
40K – 50K miles from a set of tires. Also, I don’t want to buy different
rims.

Thanks

electrical gremlins…?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:47 pm

My ’97 9000 CSE is acting very strange: the original battery won’t hold a
charge, the Cruise control indicator resets itself to "on", and the headlights
stay on after shutting down.  It’s drivable with a jump start, and the dash
electrical shows 13.8 to 14 volts when running.  Is this normal for a bad
battery, or is there someting else wrong?

Saab door panel removal

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:47 pm

I currently have a 1987 Saab 9000 which has a faulty
regulator  (window goes down when fuse is installed).
The door panel needs to be removed in order to test
this assembly.  This appears to be simple except
for where the door handle goes through the panel.
Does anyone know how this is removed?
Thanks in advance.

Clarian Radio

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:46 pm

The radio which is installed  in my Saab 9000, 1987 sometimes
refuses to turn on. Is there a source for schematics, trouble
shooting on the internet? If now, where can this information
be obtained?

Thanks,
